Snow Much Fun with KIBO

Are you looking for a unique activity using KIBO? Now that the winter months are officially here and snow is starting to fall, we are going to need a snowplow! In this session, we will explore how to turn KIBO into a snowplowing robot to clean up cotton ball snow. We will review the basics of KIBO, discuss important materials needed, and how to add code to make the snowplow do its job. We will also explore the steps for following the engineering design process to design the snowplow, put our work to the test, and make improvements along the way. Once the snowplow has been created, we will dive into some unique activity ideas. Get ready for a flurry of fun with KIBO!

Teaching Measurements and Angles with Dash & Dot

Looking for new and exciting ways to teach math concepts in your elementary classroom? In this course, we’ll share exemplary lessons for your Dash & Dot robots that teach students about angles and measurements while building their comfort level with Wonder Workshop’s block-based coding language, Blockly.

Digital Storytelling Around the Campfire with Dash and Dot

Everyone has a great campfire tale, but not everyone knows how to share it! With the Dash robot from Wonder Workshop, students will combine coding with creative storytelling, and bring their story to life!

Tech-Infused Learning: Geometry with Sphero

Looking for technology-infused learning ideas for your math classroom? In this session, we'll guide you through a geometry lesson that will put your students' critical thinking and measuring skills to the test! Geared towards 3rd through 6th grade students, this lesson will incorporate one of Teq's favorite robots, Sphero. In this lesson, students will apply their understanding of Geometry to create a maze that includes everything from right, acute, and obtuse angles to parallel and intersecting lines. Students will not only learn to program Sphero to travel the maze, but build collaboration skills as they maneuver through a different team's design.
