Breaking Language Barriers with Microsoft Translator

Microsoft Translator, a free multilingual translation cloud service, can help bridge the communication gap for educators, parents, and students. Today's teachers are striving to present content in new and creative ways in order to reach the diverse students in their classroom. From English Language Learners to students who are hard of hearing, many students require some sort of assistive technology. Excel is a powerful tool for working with data, perfect for gathering and analyzing data to inform instruction. Explore the basics of data and inputting information, including how to use equations, and format cells to analyze and display that information. We’ll also cover how students can use this software to do the same in order to show their learning.

Microsoft Sway

With Microsoft Sway you can create reports, presentations, newsletters, and personal stories. In this session we will show you how to use this powerful tool to switch layouts, styles, select images, use Remix, and add content.

OneNote Class Notebook

Join us as we explore OneNote Class Notebook, Microsofts collaborative workspace. With this tool every student has a personal workspace, a library for handouts, and a collaborative space to work on with peers. In this session we will show you how to get started, how to organize and deliver your lesson plans, and provide individualized support to all of your students.

Clerical Applications: Excel

Join us for our second session of our Clerical Applications Series! In our first session we focused on Microsoft Word and in this session we will be working with Microsoft Excel. Our Curriculum Specialists will show you how to customize the Excel interface, format text and numbers, utilize templates, perform basic calculations using applicable functions, utilize editing and sharing settings, and some more general tips to maximize the usefulness of Excel for your staff.

Digital Storytelling with Windows Movie Maker

Digital tools allow us to take the age-old practice of storytelling and engage our students with text, narration, images, and music. Through the use of the interactive whiteboard, well explore how teachers are effectively building digital storytelling into their instruction, as well as how both software and online resources make this a creative learning experience. Introduction to Office on the Surface-Part 2

This session of Introduction to Office on the Surface focuses on a unique new addition to Powerpoint known as Mix. Mix allows teachers to convert Powerpoint presentations into interactive movies, then use these movies to deliver instruction and gather student data directly. During the session we will outline how to use the Sirface Pro 3 to download the Mix tools, use them to add video, audio, activity widgets and assessment questions, then upload a completed lesson for sharing with the whole class. 

Introduction to Office on the Surface - Part 1

In this introductory course to Microsoft Office, we'll look at some tools that make using the software suite both easy and productive. From pen and inking tools to changing how you display a presentation, we'll address the subtle differences that come with using these familiar applications on your new device.
