Measuring the pH of Beverages Using Labdisc

In this course we'll look at another classroom use of Labdiscs. You will need either an enviro, general science, or biochem Labdisc to perform this activity. We will be predicting the pH of various household beverages and then measure the pH with more accuracy using the Labdisc. We will then analyze and manipulate the data of the acidity of different beverages within the Labdisc software.

Using 3D Design to Support Fraction Instruction

Are your students struggling to understand fractions? What if we told you that you could use 3D design and printing to help your students learn and love fractions? In this course, we will explore lesson ideas and resources that will help you and your students to create 3-dimensional fraction manipulatives to nail down fraction basics.

Measuring Heart Health Using Labdisc

In honor of American Heart Month, we will look at one of the many applications of Labdisc in the classroom. We will explore how you can use your Labisc and heart rate sensor to monitor heart health. We'll also take a look at how you can analyze and manipulate associated data within the Labdisc software.

St. Patrick's Day STEM Activities

Join us to find the gold at the end of the rainbow as we explore St. Patrick's Day themed STEM activities geared towards elementary students.  We will walk you through some fun festive cross curricular STEM activites the incorporate both the engineering design process and creativity.  Now let's go find that gold!

Rube Goldberg Machines with iBlocks

Learn how to use the iBlocks framework to guide your students through the Engineering Design Process, first building context and understanding around Rube Goldberg, simple machines, and then how they come together in a Rube Goldberg Machine. IBlocks content leads students through the planning, design, and construction of their machine and finally, the testing and evaluation, where students learn the importance of refining, remixing, and redesigning.

How to Integrate Technology into Your Rube Goldberg Machine

In this session, David Fox, creator of the “Rube Works” app, will talk about bringing the Rube Goldberg experience to an app in a fun and inspirational way. Alefiya Master from MAD-learn will talk about the importance of app development in STEM education. Twelve live attendees of our Rube Goldberg OTIS series will be selected to receive Rube Goldberg early reader chapter books for their school libraries!
