Celebrate Student Success Using 3D Design & Printing

As educators, we wear many hats. We are listeners, planners, data collectors, and above all: motivators. In order to motivate our students, we are constantly looking for ways to celebrate their achievements. Join us as we celebrate World Oceans Day and use Google Tools like Google Maps and Google Earth to explore Earth's oceans and learn more about this critical resource.

Understanding the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

Innovations in science are happening at a rapid rate. Often driven by technology and human ingenuity, these advancements must be supported from the ground up in future working populations to sustain this growth. That's where the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) come in, as strong K-12 science standards can help to prepare students to be college and career ready in the 21st century. Join us to learn about the inner workings of the NGSS and how to read them in a way that can help you to frame engaging science activities.

Expanding ELL Vocabulary Through STEM

Are you struggling to find the right tools to bridge the gap between STEM and ELL vocabulary? We know that teaching ELLs outside of the English classroom can be challenging, but communicating through STEM subjects can make it that much easier! In this session, we'll discuss strategies to increase acquisition of academic English language through STEM and NGSS across all grade levels. We will also learn how STEM literacy and English Language Learner literacy can be used productively together.

Introducing STEM Role Models Through Literacy

Why are role models so important? Some reasons to have a role model include inspiration, learning how to overcome struggles, and garnering the traits of a successful individual to become the best version of you. It's important to provide students with numerous opportunities to find role models for themselves. As educators, we may sometimes want to suggest role models for specific behaviors and characteristics we think our students would benefit from — like opening up the world of STEM, for instance. Join this session to learn about some elementary level literacy resources you can use to introduce STEM role models to your students.
