Makey Makey is the key to interactive activities! Join us to learn how to use Makey Makey to create a circuit project using clay that will engage your students in new ways as they learn important lesson concepts.
The chances of being able to use Scratch for a lesson about probability is high! Join our Curriculum Specialists as we discuss how you can incorporate Scratch into your next math lesson on probability.
Everyone has a great campfire tale, but not everyone knows how to share it! With the Dash robot from Wonder Workshop, students will combine coding with creative storytelling, and bring their story to life!
Looking for technology-infused learning ideas for your math classroom? In this session, we'll guide you through a geometry lesson that will put your students' critical thinking and measuring skills to the test! Geared towards 3rd through 6th grade students, this lesson will incorporate one of Teq's favorite robots: Dash! In this lesson, students will apply their understanding of geometry to create different shapes using their Dash robot. Students will explore angles, quadrilaterals, polygons, algorithms, design planning, and block-based coding.
Looking for technology-infused learning ideas for your math classroom? In this session, we'll guide you through a geometry lesson that will put your students' critical thinking and measuring skills to the test! Geared towards 3rd through 6th grade students, this lesson will incorporate one of Teq's favorite robots, Sphero. In this lesson, students will apply their understanding of Geometry to create a maze that includes everything from right, acute, and obtuse angles to parallel and intersecting lines. Students will not only learn to program Sphero to travel the maze, but build collaboration skills as they maneuver through a different team's design.
"But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is... a robot?" Cue might not be the best at performing Shakespeare, but this robot from Wonder Workshop is a great resource for cross-curricular lessons. Join this session to discover how Cue can be used as a tool to teach programming, robotics, and creative writing!
Discover how you and your students can bring bottle terrariums into the 21st century! Join us as we discuss the sensors and tools that can be used to monitor the different conditions of a bottled garden like humidity, soil moisture, and more.
Did you know that mathematics and technology can support the visual arts? Let us show you how to take a classic lesson on facial symmetry and proportion and use it to increase students' digital literacy. You'll learn how to help students discover their digital identity, calculate the ratios for the "perfect" face, and more!
A picture is worth a thousand words, and that's why picture books are perfect for connecting STEM and literacy learning! Engage your K-2 learners with hands-on engineering challenges that use children's literature as a launch pad. Do you want to see your young learners asking questions, demonstrating skills to tackle a problem hands-on with their peers, or designing – and even redesigning – a product or idea? Join us for some fun as we dive into our favorite stories and guide our Kinder-Engineers to “redesign” the story. From creating protective attire for Humpty Dumpty, to developing a new home for the three little pigs, with these best practices and example activities, you will soon be integrating STEM into your storytelling time!
Coming through full STEAM ahead! Have you been teaching perspective - the illusion of depth and space - on a two-dimensional surface? It's time for a new perspective on...perspective! In this session we'll show you some technology and engineering concepts to take this topic to the next dimension. Pun intended.
Inspire and nurture the hidden inventors in your classroom with pi-top! A modular laptop powered by raspberry pi, pi-top is the perfect tool for students to learn to code, and create interactive physical systems that can sense and respond to the analog world. Join us as we go over the basics of pi-topOS and what it can do for your classroom!
3D Printing is becoming increasingly popular in education, and for good reason. The process of creating a print from start to finish addresses many important standards students need to become 21st Century Citizens, for instance, Critical Thinking and Problem Solving as outlined in the 21st Century Framework and Common Core standard MP4: Model with Mathematics. Join us as we define the design process in the context of a classroom and dive into the beginning steps: planning and designing a 3D Print. By the end of this session, you will have the knowledge and steps needed to start a lesson on modeling geometric shapes with an easy to use design tool, Tinkercad!
In this course we'll look at just one of the many applications of a Labdisc in the Chemistry classroom. You can use any Labdisc to perform this activity. Our Curriculum Specialists will show you how to conduct an experiment to identify temperature's influence on a substance's solubility using the temperature probe provided with your Labdisc. They will then show you how to analyze and manipulate the data within the Globilab software as well as extensions you could bring to your classroom!
In this course we'll look at another classroom use of Labdiscs. You will need either an enviro, general science, or biochem Labdisc to perform this activity. We will be predicting the pH of various household beverages and then measure the pH with more accuracy using the Labdisc. We will then analyze and manipulate the data of the acidity of different beverages within the Labdisc software.
