Classroom Projects to Inspire Creativity & Foster Social-Emotional Learning

Based on Dr. Haiken's book, this session is for educators who want to utilize creative classroom projects to foster content knowledge and social-emotional learning (SEL). Participants will be introduced to hands-on projects across disciplines that engage students, promote design thinking, and elevate learning while helping to build social and emotional skills.

Michele L. Haiken, Ed.D. is an educator, author, and blogger. She has been teaching for more than 24 years and is passionate about empowering 21st century learners through educational technology and literacy so everyone can reach excellence. She is the author of Creative SEL: Using Hands On Projects to Boost Social-Emotional Learning and Personalized Reading.

Building Resilience in Students and Teachers

This session will focus on understanding the concept of resilience and its importance in maintaining mental well-being. Participants will learn about practical strategies to develop and strengthen resilience in both students and teachers, including coping with stress, fostering a growth mindset, and creating a supportive learning environment.

Mandy Froehlich is an experienced Director of Innovation and Technology, technology integrator, and teacher, whose interest lies in reinvigorating and re-engaging teachers back into their profession, as well as exploring what’s needed to support teachers in their pursuit of innovative and divergent thinking and teaching. She consults internationally with districts and institutions in the effective use of technology to support great teaching, mental health support for educators, and how to create organizational change. She is an author of several books in the mental health and education space.
