Sphero RVR Basics

Sphero RVR is a programmable robot car that takes coding to the next level! RVR customizations let you to connect third-party hardware, and can change the look and feel of this mobile robot! In this session, we'll discuss the basics of using the Sphero RVR to drive across terrains, connect hardware, code using sensors, and even play games. We'll also discuss activities that can be done right in the Sphero app. Let’s get our Sphero RVR rolling!

Programming with Sphero RVR

Once you are familiar with Sphero’s newest robot, the RVR, you’ll be able to start programming it with Sphero EDU.  EDU is both a website and a mobile application where students and teachers can use block programming to take advantage of the RVR’s sensors and movements.  Great for any STEM program!

Teq-tivities are helpful strategies, lessons, and activities to jumpstart meaningful learning and engage students - no matter where they're learning from. Our Teq-tivities help educators connect technology skills to pedagogical practices, to ensure that students get the most out of every lesson.

Tough Terrain!

Let's explore how tough our Sphero RVR really is! In this activity, students will discover different types of terrain for our RVR to drive over. This activity will start by driving Sphero along a flat surface, and then adding additional "obstacles" such as grass, concrete, rocks, etc. Students will then determine if different speeds are needed to drive over each material.
